Key Trends and Recommendations from Unit A Review: From our review of the seven newly launched programs under Unit A, we’ve identified several key trends and recommendations to assist you with ongoing web content updates for Units A-C:
1. Placeholder Content: A significant number of programs still contain placeholder content. It's crucial for garrisons to prioritize updating this content with specific, installation-relevant information. Placeholder text can confuse users and detracts from the user experience.
2. Clear and Consistent Navigation: Many garrisons have multiple paths leading to similar content (e.g., various fitness centers or youth sports). Streamlining navigation by consolidating paths can help users find information more efficiently. It's recommended that garrisons create clear, distinct pathways for each program to minimize confusion.
3. Updated Contact Information: Several programs lack updated contact information. Ensuring that all pages display accurate and accessible contact details is essential for user engagement and support. This includes phone numbers, emails, and physical addresses.
4. Program-Specific Details: Many programs are missing critical details such as schedules, program offerings, and eligibility requirements. Garrison staff should focus on adding comprehensive information to enhance user understanding and facilitate participation.
5. Visual Content: The use of visuals (images, videos, infographics) is minimal across several programs. Incorporating engaging visual content can significantly enhance user experience and retention. Garrison teams should be encouraged to add relevant images or videos that showcase program activities and facilities.
6. User Engagement Features: There is an absence of interactive elements such as FAQs, event calendars, and feedback forms. Implementing these features can improve user engagement and provide valuable insights into community needs and preferences.
7. Regular Content Reviews: Establishing a routine review process for web content is vital. Garrison teams should set a schedule for regular updates and content audits to ensure accuracy and relevance. This could include feedback loops with users/program managers to gather insights on content effectiveness.
8. Standardization of Terms: There is inconsistency in terminology across different programs (e.g., variations in naming conventions for similar services). Standardizing terms and phrases can enhance clarity and help users navigate the website more intuitively.
9. Feature List Link: A recurring issue has been identified with incorrect link selection in the “Feature List” block. Garrisons should use the “page picker” for internal links rather than selecting “External URL” and pasting links from the browser. Using the wrong link type can result in broken links at launch and creates unnecessary rework.
By addressing these areas, we can collectively improve the overall user experience and ensure that the information provided is clear, helpful, and up-to-date. Note we will be conducting a similar content quality assurance and quality control process will for Unit B and C programs once they are launched across the enterprise.
